So what did the Dark Knight turn out like? hmm? Sit down and I’ll tell you a tale like none you have heard before.

Ok so much for the Prince of Persia reference…but that was the hype built around the Dark Knight. was it great? Sure. Was the Joker awesome? you bet! So what do we rate it? 7/10. WHY? Well here goes.

Starting at the top. The Batman. What happened to him? What happened to his voice. After this, in my opinion, Christian Bale is by far the WORST Batman to hit the screen. Yeah, even Clooney edged him out on this. I just think he tried TOO hard to play the role..just too hard. I also wonder why they showed him so much in the light. The whole concept of Dark Knight, was kinda lost, when they featured his rubber suit in the light. OR maybe they’re making references to his suit color? I dunno, either way, there was too much Batman in the light and no enought in the Darkness. Don’t get me wrong, there were some AWESOME moments with the Batman too, both in the Dark and in the Light. :P

Next: The Joker - In one word - SUPERB! I cannot emphasise how fantastic Heath Ledger was. He was every bit as good as Jack Nicholson, if not better. From the very first scene with the bank robbery to the last scene with the ships, Joker’s role has been nothing short of Stunning! If you watch the movie again, play special attention to his dialogue in the Ship and with Dent. Joker’s role overshadowed everyone in the movie and I’m glad it did.

Harvey Dent/Two Face - Ok this I never expected but he was awesome!! The stage by stage transformation from Dent to Two Face was brilliantly portrayed. I would have thought they would mess this up, but it was pulled off very well.

Gordan/Rachel - Gordan played out perfect - his growth from Lieutenant to Commissioner was also well done. Not great…but good enough to create a few surprises. Rachel; played byMaggie Gyllenhaal was HORRIBLE - She’s old, fat and ugly. Not HOT. nuff said. Wonder what happend to Katie Holmes? Oh yea she got knocked up.

Overall - Well I would have thought they were trying to do too much all in once, but it was managed well enough in the end. The best Characters in the movie were The Joker and Two Face. Overall it was a good movie, but NOT worthy of the BEST MAN MOVIE EVER.

Well frankly I’m not one bit excited…Chris O Donnell, joins the cast of Max Payne the Movie. Chris O’Donnell has signed up for a major role in Max Payne. O’Donnell, who is most famous for his portrayal of faithful sidekick Robin in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, hasn’t had a major screen role since a spate of turn of the century. But the good part is Oscar-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg was cast as the lead in the Max Payne film, which is currently shooting in Toronto.

There’s always something about these watching these movies with a great big crowd, cheese pop corn and a large cola by your side.
So it begins..Identity. Supremacy. Ultimatum. The titles of the Bourne films reflect their terse, taciturn character Jason Bourne. He’s the ex-CIA assassin who was plucked from the Mediterranean as an amnesiac in The Bourne Identity and saw his fugitive hopes of domesticity destroyed in The Bourne Supremacy. The who-am-I? impetus propelled those first two instalments and it’s no surprise that it crops up again here in what various sources have claimed is the final entry in the Bourne saga. But although Jason Bourne discovers his real name and retraces his first steps into the CIA’s shady Treadstone programme, it’s fair to say he’s still a mystery by the time the credits roll. And that’s what gives this classy thriller its smarts.

In a string of crappy sequels and and movies in itself, The Bourne Ultimatum is something special: a blockbuster with brains as well as brawn. Sticking close to the original movies (though deviating wildly from Robert Ludlum’s novels), it’s a threequel that manages to retain its freshness by dint of its craftsmanship, not gimmicks. Using his over-the-shoulder shaky-cams, British director Paul Greengrass stages the action with balls, employing real locations and a small crew to deliver the kind of verite he put to different use in Bloody Sunday and United 93.

An early nerve-fraying sequence in London’s Waterloo Station sets the taut, credible tone as Bourne (Damon) meets whistle-blowing reporter Simon Ross (Considine) from the ‘Guardian’, who’s running a story on the CIA’s Treadstone programme. The ensuing game of cat and mouse plays out with nerve-fraying tension as Bourne dodges covert operatives on the station concourse, while CIA/NSA suits led by agency mandarin Noah Vosen (Strathairn) run the show in real-time from behind banks of monitors halfway around the world. It’s like a steroid-abusing version of ‘24′ and begs the question: how much did the original films inspire the clock-ticking TV drama? The series has always had a keen sense of the division of labour in the spy industry, as senior suits wash their hands of the dirty business that happens on the ground. The screenplay plays that expediency to the hilt and adds a muted political dimension to Jason Bourne and his reasons for joining the CIA. The revelation and flashbacks that show his initiation make him a morally ambivalent figure whose hero status seems to be eroding with each new instalment. There’s a subversive undercurrent at work here and the film’s understated take on the limits of patriotism is surprisingly daring - although so underplayed that many may overlook it.

Greengrass keeps such concerns simmering under the surface but doesn’t forget he’s supposed to deliver an action blockbuster. The results are exhilarating: the Waterloo opening gives way to a motorbike/foot chase through a Tangier market; a Manhattan car chase with Damon behind the wheel of a NYPD cruiser. The shooting style is immersive. You flinch, tense and dodge as Damon unleashes Bourne’s inimitable Krav Maga moves, the bone-crunching sound effects expressing every snapped wrist, every choke hold. Matt Damon’s intimated that this may well be his last outing in the role. With three films already under his belt that may be the smartest move to make, especially since it’s debatable how much more plot and CIA double-crosses the franchise can credibly sustain. If it ends here, it’ll end on a high note. True, there’ll still be more questions than answers - but the mystery of Bourne was always part of his dangerous, disorienting allure.

Overall, we at the game druid give it a 9/10!

With Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End doing good business at the box office, it’s no surprise to hear rumors about a potential Pirates 4. Series producer Jerry Bruckheimer has said the series could continue if the filmmakers can come up with a good story. Now there are rumblings online about what some of the plot ideas being kicked around are.

According to a scooper for CinemaBlend.com, Johnny Depp is all but set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow (for a $35-40 million payday, they claim). Also reportedly expected to return are co-star Geoffrey Rush and director Gore Verbinski, although the latter has made it clear to some that he’s done with swashbuckling. Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom are not expected to be back, but that’s been assumed for sometime. The site adds that production might not begin until sometime between 2009-2011.

CinemaBlend’s scooper claims “the fountain of youth story [introduced at the end of Pirates 3] might not be the only story they might use the next pirate’s film. The fountain story could be used in another form to introduce the story for Pirates 4.”

They add that, “Some of the brainstorming going around involves some Jules Verne type of scenarios involving some pretty big flying machines, a man who wants to rule more than just the ocean, an encounter with the most famous and dangerous pirate of all, a race to get to a lost world (Hint, Hint) and Jack and his crew going to where no pirate has gone before (No, it’s not space but Disney had made animated movie about this place before with Michel J Fox voicing one of the characters).”

Jack Sparrow discovers Atlantis?! Time will tell.
