China: No Nintendo Wii yet, but you can get ‘Vii’ instead
Posted by: thegamedruid in WiiNintendo has only officially released its innovative Wii console in one of the Far East Asian countries so far, and that is Japan. Even South Korea will not be receiving the system until later in 2007. However, knowing that word has already travelled, a copy-cat system has appeared in China already.
No doubt spurred on by the fact that lots of tourists are flying over to Japan to pick up Nintendo’s multi-million selling Wii console, a Chinese company has created a system that clearly mimics Nintendo’s Wii in almost every way. Called the ‘Vii’, it looks just like a Wii, has a motion controller and even appears to come with the same lifestyle approach for its advertising campaign!
Vii, the blatant rip-off of Nintendo’s Wii.
Could it be as bad as the POP Station and NEO Double Game copies?
So what do you make of this blatant rip-off? It seems to follow other copycats such as the X-Game 360, NEO Double Game and POP Station and is likely nowhere near as good as anything that would appear from legitimate companies. Do not be fooled!
Stay tuned for further updates…
