PS3 Slim Revealed

Getting straight to the point…The new PS3 slim measures 33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter and consumes 34 percent less power. It’ll also pack a 120 GB hard drive as a middle ground between the current 80 GB and  the 160 GB SKU. The 120 GB size will also put it head-to-head with the Xbox 360 Elite.

Besides the new hardware, perhaps the biggest news is that the PS3 Slim will also bring with it a much slimmer price tag of $299, or 299 Euros, or 29980 yen.

For those of you who’ve been on the fence about buying a PS3, does this new hardware and price do it for you? Also note, that the new PS3 Slim is no longer PS2 backward compatible.

Red ring of death is old..what’s the Yellow light of Death?

We’ll it’s the PS3’s equavalent of the RROD. Sony has always been considered the reliable hardware brand when compared with Microsoft’s offering, however this misconception has allowed the Playstation 3’s hardware failings to fly under the radar somewhat. Namely the yellow lights of death. With the official PS3 forum and sites such as Kotaku and gamespot having posts regarding this and the possible link with the PSN Firmware update, Gameztraffic.com experiences its own yellow light trauma.

No Price Drop for PS3 Planned

In anticipation for the ‘big news‘ that’s coming up, Sony dismissed rumors of a price drop saying that, “SCEA remains focused on the long-term momentum of the PS3. With the industry’s best software lineup this year, combined with our most aggressive marketing campaign to date, we remain confident in our approach and the value we’re delivering with PS3.”

Not very sure what’s being planned but yes, less than a few hours to go for the planned announcement. Maybe it has nothing to do with the PS3. Maybe they’ll announce a slashed PS2 price; and I’m almost certain that they’ll talk something about the PSP, keeping in mind that the Nindendo DSi is coming up. But if they do announce the PS3 price drop, despite them sayin there’s no drop, i think Sony might be looking at a drop in its  image. Or maybe some people will go, “yay! Sony rocks!” I dunno. takes all kinds of people.

Sony Planning ‘Big PS3 Announcement’ Tomorrow

Well tomorrow as we know it is the end of the financial year from Sony and they’re making a BIG announcement. Right now your guess is as good as ours, no clue on what’s gonna happen. But rumors have of course been swirling for some time about a PS3 price drop, with Sony even recently being publicly pressured by third-party publishers to make a price cut on the console soon. However, he’s what we’ve speculated:

1. A price drop - maybe it will in turn reduce the price of the PS2, bringing it down $100 or something

2. Some new title for the PS3

3. Recall all PS3s

4. Give away free PS3s

ok so 3 is crazy and 4 is just wishfull thinking. but hey..stay tuned tomorrow.
